John Q. Duong

John Duong

John Q. Duong is a consultant executive at Bridgecreek Development Co., a real estate development company based in Orange County, California. In this capacity since 2003, John's responsibilities include but not limited to site acquisition, project entitlement, project management, project financing, new business development, public & government relations and business strategies.

In 2001, John was appointed by President George W. Bush to concurrently serve as Director of the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and as Executive Director of the President’s Advisory Commission on AAPIs. In these positions, he was charged with coordinating all federal activities under Executive Order 13216 to increase opportunities for and improve the quality of life of over thirteen million Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs).

Prior to joining the Bush-Cheney Administration, John was Vice President of Bridgecreek from 1999 to 2001. From 1996 to 1999, he served in various capacities in California Governor Pete Wilson's Office, most recently as Deputy Director of the Office of Community Relations. In 1999, John founded Q-Strategies, a consulting firm for small businesses, in which he still maintains today.

With a record of community services, John has been serving on the boards of directors for a number of national non-profit organizations, including the Orange County Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS), and the National Asian Pacific Center on Aging (NAPCA), where he is currently Chairman of the Board. John has also been serving as a member of the City of Irvine’s (CA) Finance Commission since 2006.

John received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science & Public Service from the University of California at Davis, and his Executive MBA from the University of California at Irvine. John came to the United States as a refugee from Vietnam in 1982, when he was nine years old.
